Kundalgiri Dist. Damoh (M.P.) is located near to city
Damoh 35 km and from city Sagar 113 km away. Busses are available
from Damoh, Sagar, Jabalpur for Kundalpur. Damoh is situated on
Beena Katni railway Line.Kundalpur is a place full of natural
beauty.
Kundalpur is
famous for miraculous colossus of Bade Baba Bhagwan Adinath in
sitting (Padmasana) posture 15 feet in height. It is also a
place of salvation of Antim Kevali Shridhar Kevali. Here 63 temples
of various types are found, among them 22nd temple is famous for
Bade Baba Bhagwan Adinath the principal deity. The 49th temple
is called Jal Mandir, an attractive temple situated in the middle of
beautiful pond Vardhaman Sagar. The colossus of Bade Baba and so
many idols of Teerthankars brought latter in the same temple are
supposed to be installed in 10th - 11th & 11th - 12th century.
It is clear from inscriptions on idols that Kundalpur was famous
about year 1554 A.D. as Teerth Kshetra.
Main
temple at Kundalpur is Bade Baba Adinath’s Temple. The colossus is
a piece of art rare in the world and two idols of Gomukha Yaksha and
Chakreshwary Devi are carved in the back.
On the both sides of Bade Baba idols of Bhagwan Parsvanath 12 feet
in height are installed, really magnificent and artistic. So many
other Teerthankar idols are also here installed in 10th to 12th
century. Images of foot of Antim Shridhar Kevali are also installed
in this temple who achieved salvation (Nirvan) from Kundalgiri.
